I have worked for several years with Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Apprentice Programme. Jamie Oliver founded the Fifteen Apprentice Programme with the core philosophy of using the magic of cooking to give young people who've often faced enormous challenges in their lives, the opportunity to unlock their true talent, through great training and mentoring.
Every year, the Fifteen restaurant recruits 18 apprentices, aged between 18 and 25, and trains them to become professional chefs through its unique 12-month programme, which includes on-the-job learning, college-based education and personal development. The Apprentices have often had a difficult start in life. Many have had criminal records and some have done time in prison. They often have anger-management issues and suffer from low self-esteem.
Using Cognitive Hypnotherapy, I work with the Apprentices to help free them from the negative beliefs they may have about themselves and their abilities and the mental blocks and learnt behaviours that hold them back from reaching their full potential.
I was thrilled to receive an award from Jamie Oliver this week at the Class of 2015 Apprentice Graduation in recognition of the work that I have done with the programme. Most of the graduates from Fifteen London still work in the food industry today. It is an honour and a privilege part of the programme and to be able to work with these young chefs to contribute to helping them move towards a different future.
