Post-natal PTSD can be overcome

Posted on 17 October 2017

If you read my blog often then you will know that I do bang on about how awful post-natal PTSD can be and how pleased I am that it is finally getting recognition as a thing in its own right and not some form of post-natal depression. And it is necessary to get the message across, there are too many women being ignored and who don’t know where to get help.

But for this post I want to strike a more positive note. If you have had a bad time with a birth and you are getting flashbacks, feel hypersensitive or have a job concentrating you may be suffering from post-natal PTSD. And I want you to know that it can be overcome.

Out of all the mental health conditions which can be helped by some of the new treatments we now have on offer, PTSD is the one which shows the greatest response,  We are having fantastic success rates with the various eye movement techniques.  There are many soldiers, emergency workers, workers in disaster zones who have benefitted from these treatments and got better. And it is also true of women who have suffered birth trauma.

Your memories can be put in their place

I can explain in more detail when you visit my post-natal PTSD clinic in Henley or my post-natal PTSD clinic in Harley Street. For now, I can assure you that if your memories are causing you problems then you can be helped. Our techniques can change the way you hold those memories. They won’t disappear, but they will lose their vivid, intrusive power almost as it you can’t be bothered to think about them anymore.  They will be put in their rightful place, at the back of your mind so you can get on with the rest of your life and enjoy bonding with your baby.

Cognitive hypnotherapy puts you back in control

I am here to help you, using both cognitive hypnotherapy, eye movement techniques and other even newer tools such as the Havening process. All my treatments are individually tailored for you and they work.

So, let’s end on an optimistic note. You are going through a bad time, come as see me and we will change that so you feel different and better.  And that is something to look forward to.
